Smoothies: A quick, delicious way to get lots of nutrients!

My Daily Nutrient-Packed Smoothie

Smoothies are one of the easiest and most delicious ways to pack in essential nutrients. I start every morning with one, and it keeps me energized and full for hours. This powerhouse blend delivers 30 grams of protein, plenty of magnesium, iron, and sulforaphane—all without any added sugar. Since so many people have asked me for my go-to recipe, I’m sharing it here!

What’s in My Smoothie?

1/4 lb Cooked Organic Spinach

That’s about three large handfuls. I cook my spinach the night before and store it in the fridge. Cooking spinach doubles its magnesium content, making it even more beneficial.

1 Handful of Broccoli Sprouts

Broccoli sprouts are packed with sulforaphane, a powerful compound known for its role in cancer prevention. I grow my own. (check out my previous post on how to do it!).

1 Scoop Collagen Powder

This adds 10 grams of protein and supports healthy skin, hair, and joints.

1 Cup Frozen Organic Blueberries

I pick mine up from Costco’s frozen section. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and fiber. They also reduce DNA damage, protecting against again and cancer.

3/4 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt

This adds 20 grams of protein. I freeze my Greek yogurt in ice cube trays to keep my smoothie extra thick and cold. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can skip this step and just use fresh yogurt.

1 Cup Cold Water

Extra water is always beneficial, and it helps blend everything together smoothly.

How I Make It

I toss everything into my Vitamix and blend until smooth. That’s it! This smoothie keeps me full all morning, and I love knowing I’m fueling my body with high-quality protein, magnesium, and sulforaphane.

Where to get all you need:

Blender: https://amzn.to/416DxXH This is my favorite blender. I’ve had this one for 6 years, we both use it every day, and it’s still going strong. The main things are a good motor, stainless steel blades (not plastic), and the stirrer that is inserted from the top. It saves so, so much time!

Collagen Powder: https://amzn.to/42PpcjY This is the collagen powder that we use. Scott and I each use a scoop each day. It adds protein and is really good for joints (and skin and hair)

Silicon Ice Cube Trays:  https://amzn.to/3WNMMcL I actually use these for so many things. One of the things is my yogurt for smoothies.

Organic Spinach, Frozen Organic Blueberries, and Plain Greek Yogurt: I buy all of these at Costco.

Broccoli Sprout Seeds: https://amzn.to/40BWCjp These are the seeds I use to grow broccoli sprouts.

Strainer Jar: https://amzn.to/4gZTowT This is the strainer jar for growing sprouts.
